The study interaction of seed priming with salicylic acid and methanol on germination traits of rapeseed (cultivar Hyola 401) under drought stress

Abstract

To study interaction of seed priming with salicylic acid and methanol on germination traits of rapeseed (cultivar Hyola 401) under drought stress, A factorial experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with three replications. The treatment experiment were included seed priming with salicylic acid at three levels 0, 0.7 and 1.4 mM, and methanol at three levels 0, 3% and 6% volume. Polyethylene glycol 6000 at three levels 0 as control, -0.4 and -0.8 Mpa were used for drought stress. Traits case study in this experiment were including Germination percent, Mean germination time, germination rate, radicle length, plumule length, seedling length, seedling dry weight and seed vigor. results showed that the interaction of salicylic acid and methanol on all rapeseed (cultivar Hyola 401) germination traits was significant except from the radicle length (P<0.01). The Interaction Salicylic Acid and drought stress on mean germination time, germination rate and plumule length traits rapeseed (cultivar Hyola 401) was significant (P<0.01), but in Other traits there was no significant difference in the level of 1%. The interaction of methanol and drought stress on all rapeseed (cultivar Hyola 401) germination traits was significant except from the germination percentage (P<0.01). In general it can be concluded that Seed priming with 0.7 mM salicylic acid and 3% volume of methanol concentration and the interaction this the two level improve all traits germination of canola (cultivar Hyola 401) under both favorable conditions and drought stress.
