Abstract

The effect of seed weight, CaCl2 concentration and priming durationon germination index and seed vigour of peanutsvariety North Carolina 2 (NC2)was evaluated in the laboratory of Plant Sciences of Islamic Azad University, Tonkabon branch in 2014. Osmotic priming was performed in a factorial experiment in the form of randomized complete block design with 3 replications. First factor was seed weight with 2 levels (large and medium), second factor CaCl2 was in 4 concentration (0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 %) and third factor priming time was in 4 levels (30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes). Results showed that large seeds had the maximum mean in terms of germinationpresentage and seedling vigour. The effect of CaCl2 showed that the increasing concentration to 0.3% was increase in the germination percentage, mean daily germination and seedling vigour indexes (lenghth and weight). Maximum germination speed, coefficient of uniformity of germination and cotyledon dry weight was in CaCl20.6%. The maximum mean germination speed and mean germination time was in medium seed treated with CaCl20.9%.Effect of priming durationshowed that maximum mean germination speed and coefficient of uniformity of germination was in 90 minutes. The maximum germination presentage, mean daily germination, mean germination speed, mean germination time and seedling vigour indexes were obtainedin 120 minutes priming
